[SOLVED] Nothing Displaying On New Build - Threadripper

Bought some pieces to make a workstation. Putting the list of parts below.
In any event. Put everything together - turns on - but no signal to monitor.
Ive tried the onboard vga, different gpu - nothing on any of them.

the q code starts up - cycles through a few things… is 0d for a few seconds then keeps going through numbers. It eventually ends on AO, but there is usually an amber or red light underneath.

I think i have everything plugged in right for single psu build. I left the pci_cpu_12v(1) and (2) unplugged as the manual seems to suggest thats only for dual psu??

Now im stumped and feel like I am sitting on a 6k brick. Any help would be wildly appreciated!

Parts below:

Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7975wx

ASUS MB ASUS PRO WS WRX90E-SAGE SE

Kingston 64GB Server Premier DDR5 5600 MHz DIMM Memory Module (4 x 64GB)

Noctua NH-U14S TR5-SP6

Seasonic Prime TX-1300 ATX 3.0

Samsung 990 Pro 2Tb

Required for any workstation or higher CPU

Xeon, Threadripper, EPYC all require at least 1, typically both be plugged in and powered.

I am waiting on a new PSU for my server due to this.

You can often use the PCI CPU headers for load balancing in multi GPU workstation/servers, but all MoBo manufacturers are very ambiguous in their descriptions of those headers.

Thats so confusing. Well i will give this a try and hopefully update with some good news!

So everything marked ‘7’ on this diagram needs to be plugged in?

350 watts

Yes

Are you running a GPU?

I am running 3060 at the moment

switch display output from internal to external

yea - ive used on gpu and on mobo. I need to still try and plug in the other 8 pins and see if that works. I will do that tomorrow as I am not at my office until then

added the other pci-cpu-12v cables to board and still no change. Basically runs for a while - eventually goes to a q-code of 70 and a white led…

completely lost on this build - about to disassemble and return all the pieces

i took a video - i see it ending on a 70 code with a white led… .the led says vga.

i have monitor plugged into gpy with a hdmi. Do i need to also plug gpu into mobo or something? i saw some visual in ports on the mobo.

is the BMC showing anything?

is that the q-code? Says 70?

I cant post video cause im a new user but this is what it ends on

what happens if you let it sit for an hour?

Also, have you tried with just 1 DIMM of RAM, no M.2, and no GPU?
It’ll still take probably 45 minutes to memory train and post.

256 GB, probably an hour or 2.

Beneath the Code, what light is lit when it finally settles
Generally there are 4

CPU, RAM, VGA, BOOT

Connect the following at a minimum:

  • ATX_PWR
  • CPU_12V(1)_1
  • CPU_12V(2)_1

Optionally connect these:

  • PCIE_8P(1)_PWR
  • PCIE_8P(2)_PWR

Leave these unconnected:

  • PCIE_CPU_12V_1
  • PCIE_CPU_12V_2

What the heck? It will display nothing for 2 hours??

I get some people saying plug them all in and other saying leave the two open. I’ve done both and nothing displays

Is looks like the 4th out of five is lit up indicating a problem with VGA

Have you tested the card in other systems

Looking now I see you already said that, sorry

You might have to reseat the CPU, these large sockets are finicky even if you follow proper procedures, check for bent pins while you’re at it

Make sure you use the torque driver that came with it
