[SOLVED] Linux, you won't let me love you [because of my Nvidia] Can't boot with gtx 970

I installed Ubuntu Gnome in Dual boot with Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit. Everything works fine with the integrated intel Graphic output. But even after following Wendel's instructions on how to install Nvidia 346 driver, I can't get Linux to boot with my GTX 970 plugged in. I even re-installed both Windws and Ubuntu to make sure that both were installed in UEFI mode. On the first install, I had only a black screen when trying to boot into Ubuntu. On the second install I get [Stopping System V runlevel compatibility [ok]].

I tried purging drivers and re-installing, tried a different repository, tried drivers version 346 and 349 but nothing seems to work. Everything works fine with the Intel graphics output.
Can somebody help me?

[sudo rant mode]
I really want to get into Linux, I want the community to grow and to encourage companies to support Linux as well. It seems to me to be elementary for an OS to natively allow at least basic functions and usability for Nvidia GPUs, especially for an OS that aims to take over the desktop market. Now I know that i'm probably part of the early wave of mainstream adopters of Linux, and I am genuinely willing to learn the intricacies of commands and programming, but wouldn't it be a good start to let new users actually use the OS in order to let them get into the complexity of it?

That being said, this is the first time I ever got an Nvidia GPU, and I'm looking forward to going back to AMD given their recent approach on the market.

Have you ever thought of disabling the iGPU before trying to use the repository drivers from Nvidia?

Follow this guide. More of a ppa though.

The .run file way is dumb. The additional drivers way is outdated.

Oh, shit! He said 'sudo' he's now admin! He'll do rm -rf / run away!

UPDATE: I went into the UEFI settings and made the igpx as main and first graphical output. Now i can boot with hdmi plugged in the intel gpu AND the 970 plugged in. The nvidia panel recognizes the device and gives me access to the options. I can even hot swap the hdmi cable to the 970 and it picks up the signal. But when I boot directly from the 970. It gives me the same black screen as when the main device was set to the 970 and i tried to boot from the iGPU.

I also cant see any additional drivers in the additional drivers panel. Even when plugged in the 970.
