Newly installed GTX 960 makes my screen flash black when playing GTA V at 1920x1080. When the screen is not flashing black, it sometimes shows horizontal coloured lines. I captured these two issues and uploaded them here http://www.files.com/set/57acda72b1c2d.
For reference, these issues do not occur when playing Portal 2 at 1920x1080. These issues also do not occur when playing GTA V at any resolution below 1920x1080. For example playing at 1680x1050 works fine and gives me around 50 FPS at almost maxed-out settings.
Specs
GPU: GeForce GTX 960 4GB OC (Asus Strix)
Graphics Driver Version: 368.81 (latest at time-of-writing)
Screen: Benq G2220HD @ 1920x1080 60Hz through DVI [edit: previously stated HDMI]
Motherboard: Gigabyte H110M-S2PV DDR3
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 @ 3.20GHz
PSU: EVGA 500B
Memory: 16GB DDR3L
OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Enterprise N
I have tried reseating the graphics card, re-plugging the DVI [edit: previously stated HDMI] cable at both ends and reinstalling the drivers for good measure, all with no effect.
What should I do next? Is the graphics card faulty?
Try using a different cable. Also are you using a hdmi to dvi adapter by any chance? I just looked up that monitor and according to the specs it only has vga and dvi.

Try using the video card in another pci-e slot.
This makes a lot of sense. I also recommend this.
I don' think this will help based on the type of problem he's having.

I had a brain fart when I typed HDMI. I'm using a DVI cable plugged directly into the graphics card and monitor (post is corrected). No adapters. I could replace the cable but the black flashes and coloured lines only occur in game as described. Can't see how it can be the cable?
About the only thing I can recommend is to try a different cable. You don't even need dual link DVI for 1920x1080.
I can also make the screen flash black every time I click "Open NVIDIA GeForce Experience" from Windows notifications on the taskbar. http://www.files.com/shared/57ad7aadae130/OpenNvidiaGeForceExperience.png
Is that normal?
Okay I dug out another cable from the depths of cold storage and found an HDMI to DVI cable (all one mould, no adapters). I plugged the HDMI end in the graphics card and the DVI end in the monitor. This means two things have changed: the cable and the graphics card port.
All problems are solved. There's no hint of black screen or coloured lines in game at any resolution. Also the screen no longer flashes black when clicking "Open NVIDIA GeForce Experience" from the Windows notifications area.
Great suggestion to change the cable, I wouldn't have considered it. But I am left wondering if it's a problem with the port, not the cable.
