[SOLVED] Cant Connect Belkin USB Wireless Adapter

Hey guys at home this worked but at college my USB Belkin wifi adapter cant connect to the college wifi. They set it up on their end with the mac address but it still wont work. It works fine at home but not here.

Got any ideas how to resolve this?

your model of wifi adapter & their wireless router model number/name and you might get a solid responce

Yeah the model would be helpful.

Use IPconfig to see if you can find the DHCP, or the default gateway would be a good start for diagnosing it. It could be something as simple as not being able to locate the DHCP server (which some USB wifi adapters can do depending on what sort of networking you're connecting to) and therefore not receiving and IP address.

Based on what little you gave us to go on and what my experience tells me...someone either fat fingered the MAC or you gave them the wrong one...but thats making the assumption that you actually aren't completing the wireless connection and failing to get DHCP or that your signal is even good, or any number of things.

If its a USB adapter, take it to their help desk and have them get it working, you dont need the whole computer.

Belkin typically doesn't play well with enterprise stuff. When I worked for an ISP for student housing, people with belkin routers wouldn't work due to shitty firmware. The issue was with the way belkin routers asked for an IP address, which triggered port security for some reason. generally avoid belkin if you can.

Well I fixed the problem by just making a very long Cat 5 cable by hand and then plugging it in down the hallway lol.
