Alright guys. Seems like my final decision will be the Sapphire R9 290X 8GB with a Corsair RM750.
Thoughts?

Good choice the Vapor X is a great card.
The GTX980 is offcourse great aswell, but for the price of a GTX980, you can buy a 290X Vapor X + psu so yeah thats a win win.
Corsair RM750 are good as far as i know.
Awesome, means a lot coming from you.
EVGA SuperNova G2 750W is also a nice psu.

Single 12V rail 62A good build quality.
They are both really close, I wonder what kind of noise levels they have.
well, i just readed that you allready have a corsair HX650W this is allready a very decent unit.
I dont realy see a reason to upgrade that.
Well I would really like a modular PSU for cable management. So I figured I might as well get one with all the other upgrades I'm getting. Kinda do everything all at once.
(Getting new case/ cooler as well)
Ah in that case i can understand.
I found this review about the EVGA psu.

I personaly realy like the way those cables are.
Wow, I didn't realize how high end EVGA stuff was.
Well its probably because EVGA has some shitty lower wattage units with 4 rails in the past. they also called super nove nex. so that could be the reason.
Man now I'm really torn. I really like both PSU's.
I trust Corsair but the reviews on the EVGA are pretty top notch.
They are both good i suppose, but i have readed on the corsair forum that there where some thermal issues with the first batches of the RM series.
I suppose that Corsair allready has solved those issues. Logan used a RM850 and he said that he didnt notice anything about it.
But still read trough this topic.

Yeah, those posts are all a few years old.
yes, like i said, i suppose it was only an issue with the first batches. But yeah it could still be relevant, if you are the unlucky one, to grab one that has laying for 2 years in stock.
chances are offcourse small but yeah ☺
Yeah, I found a review on the RM750, the noise level are very appealing. Especially because making a silent PC was part of the reason behind these upgrades.

johnnyguru is the go to for PSU reviews.
I'm exclusively using Corsair RM PSUs in everyone of my builds. They are really great units. Exceptionally quiet and very stable and reliable in my experience.
Thanks, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the RM750 now.
r9 290 good for 1440p
From what I hear, The RM series from Corsair have questionable capacitors alongside high grade ones. I'd play it on the safe side and get a Seasonic X series. My Seasonic SS-850KM3 is awesomely quiet, thanks to the hybrid fan switch that let's you somewhat control how much the fan spins, or in some cases, it wont spin at all. Nothing new, but having a switch on the exterior of the PSU just makes it more appealing for a quiet build, IMO.
