So I'm using a Ubuntu VM as my primary driver for now on due to complications trying to get it as my primary OS and VM down Windows. As such I'm still vulnerable to some prying from MS in my Windows OS even though it's bare minus my games and associated software.
That said I'm looking for a good, preferably open sourced, software firewall solution. I could easily setup the rules I'm wanting to do on my firewall at home, but at work I used a public-ish connection that we don't manage so I can't create the rules I want on there, hence my need for a software solution.
I've created my whitelist of applications and ports on the WIndows firewall but I just don't trust that much.
So far I've found https://tinywall.pados.hu/ -- but it just uses the Windows Firewall as it's legs so it seems to defeat the purpose to me.
