So what is better?

im looking to upgrade but i want to save as much as i can and also have this rig for the next 2 years still being able to max all games out i was thinking of either getting 3x r9 280x from XFX DD BE to run in trifire...... or......2x r9 290x XFX for crossfire, ill be waiting till the price goes back to MSRP so for the 280x im looking at total bout 900 and for 290x its 1000. my question is whats better?

3x crossfire is not really worth it because nothing really is optimized for it so in some games, you actually lose fps with a 3rd card. Also, you realize the 7970 and R9 280x are the exact same card right? The 280x is just a rebranded 7970.

2x 290x's would be better mainly because its actually optimized for.

Dual 290x's for sure, the third 280x will add minimal performance however the two 290x's. Also the 280x's would perform the same as the 7970's..... It's just a rebrand
