I'm really tempted to by the 64gb OCZ synapse ssd for caching. Just curious of what everyone thoughts on the OCZ Synapse. Is it really worth it?
Why would you buy an old outdated and generally shitty drive from a company that went out of business?
Not to be rude, but that drive is kinda crap. The sequential read and write speeds are okay but the random write and read speeds are terrible. They also had a very high failure rate too.
You can cache with any SSD. Just plug it in and if your Intel motherboard supports it you can set it up in a few minutes. I didn't even bother with caching though. I just installed my OS and frequently used programs on my SSD and used it that way. Much faster than just caching a mechanical drive.
Grab a Kingston SSDNow! V300 or a Samsung 840 EVO or a Kingston HyperX 3k and be set.
Woah you need to calm down it was just a question. Didn't Toshiba buy OCZ assets?
Toshiba did, doesn't change that this drive is of poor quality. Get one of the drives he recommended.
Already have a crucial m500 but if if v300 or the 840 EVO goes down to $20 dollars I be sure to pick one of them up.
