The main complaint I see with the r9 290/x seems to be the crappy stock cooler well I just saw this on toms http://www.tomshardware.com/news/msi-radeon-r9-290x-lightning-pcb,25257.html . It seems the custom 290s are coming out sometime in the next 2 months and the 290x lightning is one that I am extremely interested in but holy cow 8+8+6 pins power connector.
Damn, time to invest in liquid nitrogen companies and PSU suppliers. Whats the power draw on a pair?
Wow... 150W more than the reference design... I don't know if that's gonna work... PSU don't usually have three PCI ports... they come in modules of two. ( at least all I've seen so far) and I don't trust Molex adaptors.
my psu came with 4 x 8pin pci power connectors..
Tha's what I was saying, they come in pairs, 3 ports will left you with eiter one port unused and zero chance of doing CF ( without molex) or one port empty making you use Molex again.
It's not that I hate Molex ports, but I've had some bad experiences with them on GPUs and they are ugly as hell if you want a pretty Pc.
