Riiiiiiiight

PSU's silly. Can get a better GPU. Where's your SSD at that price point? There's a newer version of that cooler and even then you'd be better off going on air for overclocking unless you're going to do a custom loop instead.

its not great you could get a 980ti and save a fair bit of money by getting a more balanced psu.

you could easily drop down to a 650w unit and still have more than you will ever need for a single card build. if you want sli then an 850w unit.

graphics card seems an odd choice, other than that all the other parts are good

I have been reading a lot about 700 series cards getting driver gimped so that nvidia can make people buy their latest and greatest, not sure how much truth there is to it though.

meh

i think 1kw+ is fairly future proof :)

No matter WHAT his plans are for it.

what is the whole point of this topic?

If you have allready build this setup, then it would be cool if you create your own build log thread in the build log section,
with some pictures and what not.

@flazza. threse no such thing mate, and because he would be lower into the psu's overall power draw it wont be as efficient compared to a lesser powered unit. the ideal is to pick a system that will top out at around 75% of the psu's max power as thats where the high point in efficiency normally is.

that 1200w power supply is overkill u coulda gone with a seasonic plat. 760 or the lower corsair 760, heck u can prob. do a 600w something. the 780 ti is wayyy to expensive you coulda gotten a 970 for 250 used somewhere that will run circles around 780ti, which is already being unoptimized in games & drivers as Nvidia focus on optimizing on their newer cards. Woulda taken that 100 from GPU or PSU and gotten a decent case like NZXT, Corsair or Phanteks.

Iuno with skylake coming around you shoulda just waited for skylake with QUAD channel DDR4. Or just waited to some gamer dumps his 4790k/4770k setup for upgrade on ebay for cheap. Also for 300+ dollars u could have gotten a i7 5820k (at microcenter) and a cheap asus x99 board for under 160 dollars.

For a pub gamer and non-technical gamer. I'd give it a C+ rating. You did good but not enough unless you really know hardware or spent 20+ hours studying hardware.

The 960 should be slower than the 750ti by numbers, by drivers it is faster.

I changed the Graphics and mobo.

Im going to rebuild it. Do lots of cable manegment. But before then I just a second opinion so I know ho with this setup or not. So. Yeah. They are saying buy a 980ti instead so maybe. Or ill get a Fury X or something.

I'll think about it. But from a gaming prospective I've heard its not much improvement. On the Passmark list. Its only a few cards below a 980. And like 10 cards below a 980ti. Im thinking that since im doing 1080p gaming it might be a good choice. Now that I have enough to change up my setup from my two R9 270xs.

@MisteryAngel seems like I have seen you say this a lot lately.

Thatnks for grading it. I'll see what I can do now. I don't have the 780ti yet but ill consider the 980 or ti. And yeah maybe an SSD will be good.

What about a fury X?

in my personaly opinnion the 980Ti is the better card over the furyX.
Most gaming benchmarks i have seen, the 980Ti edges out the FuryX.
However the drivers for the FuryX are of course just new, and there is allot of room for improvements on the drivers.

But still, i would personaly grab the 980Ti atm.

yeah i saw that too. the fury x maybe uber powerfull. but the drivers are shit right now.

I would go with AMD because I do not want to support what Nvidia is doing.

im a AMD person by heart but AMD is let me down. lol

well i kinda lied i have the 780ti with me. but it was free. from a friend that upgraded to a 980ti. but im woundering should i install it and sell my two r9 270x 4GB OC? or just buy a Fury X/980Ti. so yeah. i have checked the 780ti to see if it works. it does. and its way better than my 270x's in some games are worse in others. NVidia Titles are good with it. but AMD titles suck with it.
