The reason i laugh is simply becasue im not sure what i need to upgrade. I'll list what i know off hand of whats in my pc and then maybe i can get input from everyone else on what i should keep...get rid of...and buy.
Motherboard- Asus M4a785-m
Processor- AMD Phenom 9650 quad core 2.30 Ghz
6gb ram
windows 7 home premuim 64 bit
320 gb harddrive
its got a lightscribe dvd drive...i like it so i might keep it
its got a 15:1 media reader.. if i said that correctly...would like to keep it
i used to have a stock HP Pavilion Elite e9000 series AMD Phenom II X2 545 Dual Core processor, 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G210 graphics card, 4GB DDR3 memory and a 500GB hard drive
but the motherboard fried on that so i got the Asus with the AMD quad core and added 2 more gb of ram...Well i didnt add it...this guy who fixed it added that...and for what ever reason he gave me a smaller harddrive but it didnt bother me until now... i do alot of editing and recording but i have started to blue screen lately...only happened once but i know need to upgrade but thats all i know.
but i want to upgrade further i have a picture

Well, here's what I'd get, Sticking with your mobo a Phenom 2 x4 since they still perform pretty damn well, if you plan on overclocking at all pick up a aftermarket heatsink with this. The reasonably priced Seagate Barracuda 1tb for storage, and a 7850 1gb since I assume you won't be doing much multimonitor work and it's the best price/performance of any card out. You may need to get a new powersupply with this, depends how much the crappy one they give you with it has.
i have these nifty media drives that seem to be made for external HDD and SSDs to best describe what i am talkng about look at the pic in the OP and look at the hp logo to the top and the bottom right are the slots for what i would hope is for an external HDD and SSD...or am i just confused...if not i would like to keep my current HHD and upgrade to an external...good or bad idea???
Also what size power supply would i need...i dont think this beast machine has a good enough power supply
If you don't overclock, Corsair CX 430 is a good one. They're practically giving it away after the rebate.

Use this to calculate PSU needs, go like 50w over what it suggests.
It'd be quite a bit slower to have it as an external, it's generally a better option to have it inside unless you're just using it for storage.
sweet ok cool...thanks...now for ram...i have 6gb...its the standard stock crap u get when u buy a walmart pc...so i want 16gb...because i run a minecraft server off my pc while playing minecraft and recording...lol only 4 or 5 people on the server at one time and its not always running...plus im addicted to farmville and all that good stuff... so best bang for my buck cause theres sooo much to chose from im not sure what is good and what isnt...
plus this thing sounds like a jet plane...what kinds of fans should i get cause i only have the cooling stock fan and a fan that pushes air out...very very loud...you can totally hear it in my videos when i record and i dont like it at all lol... so fans are something i have no idea about so help there would be very very very appreciated
so i was looking at my current spec and the power supply thing said i should be at 315...but my power supply on this thing has two settings for 110...(i think and 315)...its on 110...im afraid to switch it cause i think it might blow up and i cant afford a new pc right away lol takes alot of saving for me plus with the ps4 and new xbox...i don t have spare money laying around...what should i do switch it and hope for the best or leave it underpowered
update:...seems it was 115 and 220 and 220 is for europeaon power outlets...lol thank god i didnt blow up my computer just blew a fuse
