So i just beat Crysis

Finally got to playing this PC classic! I can't believe it's been 10 years. I've never had an opportunity to play the game before. I was SO LUCKY. I got an original, vintage black-label copy of the game, too! AND EA Support activated it on Origin for me, too, which was a really sweet bonus.

So yeah...

Umm... yeah, about that ending. WHAT IN THE FLYING FUCK?!

Was a little crazy yeah

Play Warhead too, it's from the perspective of Psycho, really well made and fun.

Crysis 2 was nice story-wise but I didn't like the gameplay all that much, the maps are kinda ew imo... Crysis 3 was really fun again though.

I always taught crysis was meant to be used as a benchmark and never to be played, is it good?

The original Crysis and warhead was cool because it had a VERY open area island to explore, then they went down the linear path with Crysis2 and 3 and I lost interest. I did manage to finish 2 however, I was not all that thrilled.

Had the same issue with Crysis 2, I almost got to the end when I first played it (didn't know it at the time though). Crysis 3 is a little more open again, more possibilities for enemy engagement, gameplay is way more fun imo.

Free games that are AAA = win so I like EA for that. Anyway getting back on topic congrats to @Prenihility on clearing the game.

I remember playing this game back in the day on an atholon x2 and 8600gt with 15 FPS. Sice then i have played it every year. Benchmarking my GPUs. I consider crysis one of the best games. Graphics, sound, gameplay and the story was for me interesting as well.

I started Warhead last night right after i finished Crysis. Some things bother me, but i think i ran into those problems in Crysis also. I find an empty KPA tank and can't control the turret. Only the MG on the mantlet. Wtf is that?!

Am i doing something wrong? I press "1" to control the actual tank and drive/shoot the turret. But i can only control the MG on the mantlet. It's really annoying.

Don't really remember to be honest, but they might have been designed without the cannon in mind, not sure.

Origin is significantly better than the travesty it was at launch. I think Valve could take a few lessons from them if they actually care about customer service on Steam.

I have played the original Crysis a few times over the years. I think I got it pretty soon after it originally came out. Probably played it on an 8800GT and an Opteron 180. And a giant 20 inch CRT, which I still have. Good times. Really good times.

I started playing it again a year or so ago, but didn't get very far. I should pick it back up.

I remember playing this on an 8800 gtx on my xeon workstation thinking pc gaming was on the verge of greatness.

I actually just played and beat the game earlier this year.

What most impressed me was the story and setting, which was a bit of a surprise given people always seem to rip on Crysis as a dumb but beautiful shooter. Provided you can get over the level of technology both armies have (it's fiction why can't you?), I actually found it surprisingly immersive and the depiction and narrative of events certainly felt believable. The open levels certainly contributed to this and helped put larger engagements in the limelight - especially when you have to evac the island. I imagine there was not enough depth to the plot for most people but i think that actually helped it paint a story with enjoyably stark emotions - well, for me at least.

I did find the enemies a bit bullet spongy on harder difficulties though, the final boss battle was just kinda stupid and the final cut scene a disappointment.

I also played Crysis 2 recently, reasonable fun but a massive disappointment comparatively and the story was garbage imo.

Crysis 1 is awesome. It even had an intriguing story with a cliffhanger. I was really looking forward to seeing what was gonna happen next and how exactly did Prophet modify that alien weapon for personal use. But Crytek is run by shortsighted morons. So they decided to just abandon the previous game and the cliffhanger in order to make a consolized version of Crysis 2. And then they abandoned the ending of Crysis 2 to make Crysis 3 that is set 20 years after Crysis 2. They really took a massive dump on that franchise. No respect for their own IP and fans at all.

This was probably the biggest loss for the PC platform and real time CG advancement. Look where unreal is now that could be cryengine. Many years back. Now it bit them back.

for me steam and origin and any other as such are same.

Well, if anyone wants to play it, now's the time! 10 year anniversary! And it's my first time playing, ahahah.

I thought the games could have EASILY, EASILY been better, though. Some puzzle solving with the Nano Suit would've been cool. Some more dynamic gameplay like that would have really helped. And i think at the end of the day it was all too short. I beat Warhead yesterday, too. Hehehe. They're good games, but they could have easily been better. I think Crytek was very lazy and did things very quickly. Clearly they were focused on the tech more than anything, which is very unfortunate. A lot of the story was cheesy as much as i'd hate to admit it. So yeah, let's fight North Koreans, meanwhile there are fucking aliens here with us. But we'll ignore them until the final act of the game.

And the driving/vehicle sections. WHAT THE FUCK were they thinking?!

@ImprovizoR Yeah, consoles ruined a lot of things. Case and point.

They're still working on good stuff. Last year Crytek developed voxel ray-tracing global illumination technique that doesn't cost much in terms of performance: http://docs.cryengine.com/display/SDKDOC2/Voxel-Based+Global+Illumination

You mean running around in strength mode punching everyone to death isnt dynamic enough for you?
