I just built my own computer not to long ago. But only the other day have I got internet access through an ASUS PCI-N15 wireless card. Since then I have been getting these "smearing" effects at my home screen and everywhere else. So I came hear to see if anyone had an experience with this problem or who know how to fix it. Is it a bottleneck or what?
Specs:
AMD FX 4130 (plan on getting an 8350)
Asus M5A97 LER2.0 MoBo (plan on getting an MSI 990 FXA-GD65V2)
Corsair vengeance 4 gb 1600 MHz, (should be getting another one soon though)
Asus GTX 660 2gb OC edition
WD 1TB blue HDD
Asus PCI-N15 wireless card
Corsair CX builder series 600 watt PSU.
I just found that it wasn't a case of the Monitor (it's an Asus VS228 btw). I replaced it with another one I had lying around the house that I know works and the computer still had this effect. It seems to be more like an extreme stretch of the colors and words now, though. So I think this is a GPU problem. I may have got a bad part but am not quite sure. P.S. I did google it and had some answers but none of them helped.
FX-4130 is certainly not a bottleneck for a GTX 660. It sounds like graphical issues with your GTX 660. If you have the ability to, borrow a GPU from a friend and see if the problem is still there. If not, you have found the problem.
I do have the ability to temporarily replace it with another one from another computer. This is actually what I was thinking about doing not to long ago to. I will try and do it once I'm done with the driver download I am doing. (The OS is Win8 so I want to make sure it is compatible right now.
So it turns out I do not have the option to check another graphics card. My mom won't let me "Break open" (as she puts it) our home computer. My friend has another gtx 660 that works but he won't let me either. looks like I may have to just RMA the thing and hope the new one is good.
