Hi there. Migrating from a system running windows 10, i have bought an EliteDesk 800 G4, i5-8500

I have got 32GB of ram for this, with the option of upgrading to 64GB if needed.

I have 2 3.5inch 4TB drives that I plan to put in a mirrored pair. I plan to use these exclusively for video.

there is 1 2.5 inch bay I could put an SSD in, and 2 free m.2 slots (not sure what to do here, 2 m.2 256gb ssds in a mirror?)

My question is, I intend to use ProxMox to set up 3 services - Jellyfin, NextPVR or Channels DVR, and a HAOS instance.

How should I set up the storage when installing ProxMox, Ive poured though the documentation talking about ZFS etc, but its really not clear to me. Can someone point me to how to configure storage in ProxMox so that i.e. one virtual machine gets 50GB of space on the SSD for the OS then gets 1000GB of space on the HDD for video storage?

Sorry for the noobish question that is probably in the docs somewhere. I’ve looked, I promise.

i would put the smallest GB size 2.5" ssd i had laying around in there and install Proxmox on it.

then get 2x m.2 ssd in a zfs mirror for the virtual machines OS use
then the 2x 4tb spinners in a zfs mirror for the virtual machine bulk storage

in a vm you will configure drives that mach what you want, then when you load the OS you can use FSTAB or the software in side the VM or however you want, to use each drive as needed. (installing the VM OS to the small fast allocation, obviously)
