Hello, I just recently joined Tek Syndicate, but I wanted some suggestions.
I currently have a AMD Athlon 64 2x 5400, and I feel that this CPU is too slow for some games I play, starting from FIFA13 to Starcraft 2.
my GPU suggestions on graphic quality sets all the games on Ultra graphic by default, but its pretty laggy, so I figured that it must be the CPU.
I dont have too much money to spend, so I was looking at AMD Phenom II x4 CPU. But while I was watching some of the old videos, and noticed Logan's suggesting Pentium g dual core CPUs.
I understand I have to change the motherboard as well, so I'm open for all AMD and Intel options.
which one would be better? or any other suggestions? like the Athlon II x4?
so im looking for something thats budgetable, and also performs well.
Well you could try an APU setup from AMD. I'm not sure how well the APU graphics compare with a 9800GT (I imagine it to be better) But don't rule out the option.
you could get an i3, but i would suggest trying to get a 2nd or 3rd generation i5 if you could. If you could get a second hand i5 2400 with an older z67 mb or h61, that would be around $200
lol why'd you need an i3 or i5. They are better yes but not better for the money, so don't buy i3, you can get good older quad cores with that money.
That's basically a money sink he doesn't need. Just get a Pentium G840 if Starcraft is the only thing you play, it will surely run well with it, and fits your buget. From AMD it's hard to reccomend anything for games other than Phenom II Deneb or a cheap Vishera, here we have 25%+ price I don't know about you. The quad core would be a little better for games in the future, but will fall to newer generations at the same clockspeed (not so efficient).
HD 7750 isn't 25% faster, but close, and it REALLY ISN'T WORTH IT (anything <50%, and those are out of price range, and potentially bottlenecked by cpu), especially since 9800gt can max Starcraft 2 at stock speed, if you can overclock and gain 10-15% more fps, go for it, if less, don't kill your gpu stupidly.
