So I just picked up Skyrim on the Steam Summer Sale for $5.00. Played a little bit of it on the Xbox when it first came out but I was only borrowing the game and didn't have much time to get into it or get very far.
So, now while the game is downloading I'd like to ask the community what they think the essential must have mods for this game are.
I'd like to fix all the consoleitis mainly. Don't need super insane graphics but just better than on the console and any other tweaks and improvements that mods may bring.
I'm sorry if something like this has already been posted. Thanks in advance for the help!
BTW, may need some help installing these. Sorry, I'm a complete noob to PC Skyrim.
Then browse through the top 100 mods and pick and choose what appeals to you, Although definitely grab the bugfix mods. Honestly, its up to you what mods you want, because it depends on how you want to play the game. There are 34,000 mods to pick from.
*edit- you can pretty much do a search on the site of anything you might want and chances are there is a mod for it.
An ENB and about 20 texture mods to make all the textures high rez? and some new weapons and armor, along with things that will suit your playstyle. atleast this is important to me. and a simple but awesome mod is Bigger trees
SSME, Static Mesh Improvement, 2k or 4k textures, Relighting Skyrim, Immersive Interiors, Audio Overhaul. I use those along with some water texture mods.
SKSE, skyUI, Convenient horses, ultimate follower overhaul, all of the unofficial patches, iHUD, AHZ more HUD, amidianborn book of silence (all that apply), beards by hvergelmir, face/body mods to taste (I'm somewhat conservative with this, but the vanilla face models are hideous), wearable lanterns, my home is your home, some night sky mods, whatever graphics mods your rig can handle, plus whatever else interests you.
Looking at your system on your profile. I think you can go crazy with it. I recommend Sky UI. Removes that yucky console UI. Frostfall and Realistic needs and thirsts if you want a realistic and more hardcore experience. And then there are a lot of immersion mods but those vary by needs and play style. Of course there are unofficial bug fixes which is a must.
Here is what I use.
And here is how it looks. : http://imgur.com/a/gijk5 [Screen shot album]
Also, here is what Logan uses. He goes over essential mods and gameplay enhancement mods.

Your preference on ENB, which is the Icing of the cake in mods, may vary. I recommend you look at videos and screenshots, expirement and see which one you like best. If you don't know what ENB is, it's a mod that enhances lighting, shadows, color and glare to create better visuals. A must have in my honest opinion.
Now, odds are, you will encounter problems. I use a tool called BOSS to fix any problems I have with mods. It detects errors in the load order. And it will also detect incompatibility between mods and will suggest a patch if one exists. Very useful. Link: http://boss-developers.github.io/
So I need some help with the ENB. I installed the one Logan said he used A) because it was there and B) it looked pretty awesome.
Well I think I installed it all correctly. I have the ENB menu in game but overall it doesn't look very good. I can change some settings in the ENB, and turn on some of the eye candy but as soon as I hit apply everything turns off.
So could someone help me out with configuring the ENB? As of now everything looks pretty much the same except it is darker.
LOOT is an awesome tool for dealing with load order as well as any compatibility issues between mods. I would recommend this over BOSS because its master list is updated much more frequently. It was able to fix a lot of issues I had with BOSS. Here's a video showing the installation and a description of what it does.
