I just started my new build using a skylake i7-6700K. Today I learned that the thinner skylake substrate and cpu coolers just doesn't hold up.
Link is http://www.geek.com/chips/third-party-coolers-are-bending-intels-skylake-processors-1642036/
It is just a newly discovered problem and I don't know far it will go but intel says I should be all right if I use one of the intel recommended cooling solutions. They have water and a fined copper tower system.
Anyone else hear anything about this? Can the TEK guys learn anything?
For now I will forget overclocking since I am afraid of water cooling and the copper tower looks wimpy.
EDIT:
I am starting to get scared about this BENDGATE. Picture comparisions of the substrate show a lot thinner skylake cpu which I cannot believe is good. I fear that the installation and removal of the good cpu tower fin cooler will have already damaged the cpu chip. I won't know until I install the only recommended fin cooler which is a TS15A.
I just see fingers pointing at each other and no one is saying anything that calms my fears.
I am feeling like it was a BIG Mistake going to skylake from haswell.
