So yeah, you think i'd be kicking myself in the butt if I chose to go for a 90gb SSD over a 120gb SSD? I mean, I will just be installing the OS and porgrams on the SSD and still have my mechanical drive for all the storage needed, so I was wondering if I should just cheap out on the size of the SSD...
Pros and Cons will surely help me out. Thanks!
Most of the time, people will use an SSD as a boot drive and to have their most used applications on, so cheaping out to a 90gb would be good, but, it also matters what one you buy. When looking at SSDs you want to look at the IOPS speed as well as the read/write speeds.
Whats the budget youre trying to hit for an SSD? I can pull up a recommendation for you.
Just around $100 on the SSD lol
I was looking at the Corsair Force GT 90gb SSD cos in my local shop it is roughly 90 bucks... but if there are far better options out there, then maybe I can cough out another 50 lol
I'll do some digging on newegg, see what i turn up. Whats the interface type? SATA ii (3.0Gb/s) or SATA iii (6.0Gb/s)?
Wow, actually, thats a really good SSD for the price. 555MB/s Read. 505MB/s Write and 85k IOPS. thats pretty damn good if youd ask me. and its pretty cheap too. Id shell out for the 120GB if you plan on using CS5 and other editing programs. Especially if you do gaming. Having all your games on the SSD makes a huge impact on performance.
Yeah, I do a lot of photo editing using PS CS6 and Lightroom 4, and a few gaming here and there (not as much as I used to LOL)
They're also selling a 120gb Corsair Force 3 and a 120gb OCZ Agility 3 for just about $15 extra.
Should I just opt for either one of those 2 120gigs? I read somewhere that Force GT is fast in real world tests, would it be better to just get that faster SSD with lesser storage for programs?
Thanks!
After looking at some benching of each of them, the GT still beats both the Force 3 and Agility 3. So it looks like the 120GB Force GT is the way to go.
Here's a link to newegg for it:

You'll regret going cheap on SSD's. :)Especially on storage. 90GB fills up FAST.
Aite, I'll probably opt for the 120gb Force GT otherwise, I'd go for a 90gb one
Thanks Buddy!
Might go for the 120gb Force GT SSD, but if ever I am still too cheap I might opt for a 90gb one LOL
If I solely use it for a boot drive and for all my programs, and have my current mechanical drive take all the storage needs, would a 90gb still be a bad idea in general?
Thanks!
^ Just wanna up my question if opting for a 90gb is a bad idea LOL
Uhm another question, what do you guys think about the Corsair Force GT 120gb vs the Sandisk Extreme 120gb SSD?
And if I do cheap out a little bit more for a 120gb, what are your opinions on the OCZ Agility 3 120gb or the Corsair Force 3 120gb?
Here's a link for some data between the Corsair Force GT and the Agility 3:

I haven't seen any benchmarking data for the Sandisk Extreme yet. Hope to see some soonish, might buy one if it's up to par with the GT.
*Update*
Found the technical specs on the Sandisk Extreme. For ~$10 cheaper you only lose out on 5MB of read and write speed and 2k out of 4k IOPS performance. So buying the Sandisk is actually a pretty good deal.
Don't go 90. I'm on 120 (comes out to 111) And I've only got 25 gigs left after installing my programs (which is mostly adobe suite) and two games. I figure I've got less on my comp than most of you guys. I'd honestly get an SSD with > 200 gigs if i were buying again.
Alrightee, I have decided to save up for a Force GT 120gb SSD and will simply use my current mechanical drive as storage. Was supposed to get one this weekend, but I decided to get an IPS monitor first since I needed it a little more badly for my edits. LOL
Hopefully there's like a sale or price drop by the time I saved enough again.
Thanks for the input, guys!
