Silicon Brain: 1000,000 ARM cores

Saw something like this on the Tek (Gsync is dead), so I thought I'd post this.

The Human Brain Project is behind this attempt to build a million core
brain simulator. Professor Steve Furber of the University of Manchester
& one of the pioneers behind the original ARM chip, takes us through
the SpiNNaker Project.

There isn't a huge amount of info in this video but it's kinda cool. You get to see a fair bit of hardware though. On the software side, the only tiny bit of info he give us is that they are using event driven model (which is pretty obvious) to simulate neurons firing.

He also talks about the difficulties (i.e. our lack of knowledge) in modelling how brains represent/store memories.

(PS where should I post this? It is general tech but I couldn't find a 'tech' category. Please move to more appropriate category)
