Hi guys as some of you may be aware I have an R9 290 with refernce cooler it was stupid cheap here in New Zealand. However I understand heat wise it is pretty bad.
Is it worth water cooling my card with reduce temp, reduce noise and overclock it? or should I just leave the reference cooler on it?
I am looking at the Kraken G10 with a compatible water cooling block.
I have looked into some aftermarket fan coolers but the one that fits best is not available here in NZ and is too big, and its younger brother which is available is too big to fit in my case.
It would cost about $150 - $200 NZD to do this to the card.

There is no way getting around the fact that the stock amd cooler is pretty crap. There are other options like that of aftermarket air coolers from artcic cooling and the like. Will be cheaper than an AIO cooler + g10 bracket or custom loop with gpu waterblock.

I personally wouldn't get an all-in-one unit for a GPU....especially if it's going to run you around $150-$200. I'm not from New Zealand though, so maybe that's not a bad deal there. For that kind of money, you might just be better off putting a custom water cooling loop together.
On the flip side, you could get half of an R9 290 for the same money. I'm not sure a cooling unit should be worth half of a video card.
New zealand prices are close to Australia prices if that makes it more sense. So its not that bad, but still not the best

I did a comparison between a $1000 us build and the Australian equivalent. The AU one was $400 more, and AU currency is worth more than US dollars.

or you could get a g10 with watercooler or a arctic cooling accelero xtreme 2 or something with triple fan looks good and is around 100 bucks.
im looking for something to cool my gpu too to overclock and so its not above atlest 60

Yeah it is pretty bad over here price wise however our internet is improving. We have 200MB fibre in my small town which is crazy. Unfortunately I do not personally have it. The reason I bought this GPU was because it was basically American priced.
A custom loop here would probably run me a small fortune given how small the market would be
I saw that hybrid cooler as well seems like a good buy for an all in one. Unfortuanetly for Mightyape it is a pre order not sure when it is releasing and the accelero xtremes are too long for my case.
Basically all I can do is wait for that hybrid or go with a Kraken G10 with something like this

yeah the only way is to get g10 and h55 or the arctic cooling accelero hybrid.
what ever is cheaper and what cools the vrams the best because people werre saying they get really hot.

yeah other countries have so much more and soooo much cheaper :-( ill probley get the g10 and h55 looks cooler too, comes in differnet colours or the arctic cooling xtreme iii seems cheaper too.

i play battlefield 4 starting playing dayz and arma 3 my steam name is Schweppes Lime was vinny290 but join my friends little clan called schweppes so yeah.
so I put the gear together and the R9 stock cooler is worse then expected I honestly thought people were exaggerating about how bad it is but wow is it bad.

i think you need more vrm heatsinks because i think it might only come with 12 and the 290 has 16.
