Should I wait for the R9 390X?

I agree, it's unreasonable to ever really expect performance increases inline with what we saw when the 8800 gtx launched. My hunch is that performance will fall between the GTX 980 and Titan X. With the expected price tag over $700, performance really needs to be much closer to the Titan X to justify me buying it. Otherwise, I think I would pick NVIDIA because GSYNC is more mature and I'm seriously considering buying this puppy.

Skylake is coming out for the mainstream, not enthusiasts. Skylake-E won't release until early or late 2017 and I believe will be X109. Broadwell -E won't release until early 2016 so Haswell his best bet. Btoadwell-E will only offer a 5% jump in performance and overclocking anyway.

Can this be pinned or something? It's literally the most asked question on the forum.

People who have talked to retailers say that the 390X will be in stock at mid-end of august. I wouldn't expect to be able to buy one in June, but I have been wrong before :)

This is a valid point, announcement/launch does not necessarily mean availability, this wouldn't be the first time. That being said, I find it surprising that AMD would be trying to get cards out in the wild ASAP considering the big head start NVIDIA has on them this generation.

Only reason I can think of that the cards are delayed is that SK Hynix has problems producing enough HBM memory. I've heard rumors, and it is a new and kinda groundbreaking product. First edition is bound to have production issues. Both Nvidia and AMD will use HBM 2 next year, up from 640 GB/s to 1 TB/s. Kinda insane :)
