I Currently have an AMD Phenom ii x4 965 and I'm planning on getting an AMD 7850. So should i upgrade to a FX 6300 to avoid bottle-necking the 7850 ? Or should i try overclocking my current CPU to get the most out of it as i can ? Need some advice and all help is well appreciated. ( Also if there is another option then an FX 6300 please tell me/ leave a link) Thank you :)
The phenom ii x 4 really shouldn't provide a bottle neck here. You'll probably be fine.
Thank you ! Do you think i should overclock ?
if you got a good heatsink and motherboard then sure, but ocing you gpu would help, or spend the money to get a better gpu that would yield a better performance boost over buying a new cpu
It depends really, what is your current motherboard and CPU cooler?
I upgraded to an FX-6300 recently, I gotta say it is a fast processor for the price. I haven't had any issues or a need to overclock it, even while playing games like Cryisis 3 ect. Still using the stock heatsink for about 5 months without any overheating. It is surprisingly fast. Play all my games maxed no problem, very snappy. Not bad for $120
My Current Motherboard is the Asrock 980DE3/U3S3 and my cpu cooler is the CoolerMaster HYPER T4.
Okay this seem like a good option as well.
If you can, then save up 30 more dollars and get a 8320 instead, then overclock it if you want, or run it at 8350 speeds. The Hyper T4 is plenty cooling to run it. AM3 isn't going anywhere new soon so this is a great upgrade path and you can use your existing board instead of replacing both when AMD comes out with new processors, which probably won't be FX CPUs anymore but more like 6 and 8 core A10s and all that nonsense.
Yeah, you should be able to overclock it a fair bit with that. Aim for around 3.8 ghz and that should alleviate any small bottle necking caused by it.
Thank you for the other option :) I will take this into consideration as well.
