Should I upgrade to a 1440p monitor. Need advice from people with one

So basically now that Christmas is coming up and maybe some nice deals will come I'm thinking if I should buy a 1440p monitor. But I have 3 concerns

1. I'm not sure and I need some advice. Basically downstairs we have a 27" mac (I didn't buy it I swear) and it's 1440p. I always noticed the screen Realestate was great but wasn't blown away really. So I fired up heaven 4.0 to do some testing. Now it was hard considering that I was getting like 4 fps with everything cranked up. But I managed to get some screenshots of 1080p vs 1440p and I can definitely see 1440p is more sharp. Here are the two screenshots I got

1440p

1080p

Now correct my If I'm wrong but won't the difference between 1080 and 1440 be even less because 1080p on a native 1440p screen looks worse than just 1080p native? Its more sharp but IDK if it's mind blowing enough not sure :/ do you think the image quality is worth it?

2. I have a Fx-8350 with a gtx 970. Now that's pretty powerful but I might have to turn some things down like AA? Do you still think it will be still worth it. Well tbh in Cod Avanced warfare I  maxed out everything and still had power to spare to I turned super sampling to 2x I guess I could turn that off with 1440p and It would still look better right?

3. So basically I am looking really towards the budget side of 1440p monitors like £300-£350 and idk if they will be good cause they might have backlight bleed or other problems not sure. I'll show you some options that are in my price range and you can tell me what you think (From three uk online shops)

Thanks so much for any help

Here is my opinion on upgrading monitors right around now.

4k is the new standard. It is going to be the new 1080p, imo. It is the next big step. I think that 1440p is just going to get overlooked by the public in general. 4k is what tvs are going to, which means that is what shows and movies are going to be going to which means that is what gaming is going to keep to mostly (of course games will still support most any resolution). And 4k is just now getting here which means you are going to spend a bit more than necessary. Prices are dropping pretty fast.

Adaptive sync is just around the corner. With a higher resolution like either 1440 or 4k, the benefits of adaptive sync are really necessary, imo. They will keep you from having to push 60fps for ultimate enjoyment. The first 4k monitors with adaptive sync are going to be coming out next year. Samsung said that it will release its first ones in March, but I have heard that Seiki is going to release some in early 2015 (Jan, Feb).

Also keep in mind that with a higher ppi (which you would get with something like a 4k 28", you won't really need any AA for the most part. Much faster gpus are also on the way what with the smaller fab process and 3d vram coming next year. So that is something to consider. I am foreseeing that 4k will become a pretty universal standard soon and that is where gpus will be targeting (AMD has already been aiming at 4k since the release of the 290x).

Ehh Idk, 4k would destroy my gtx 970 and I don't plan on a new gpu for a long time. Even if 4k becomes a standard eventually it will take a long time I mean just looking at the steam hardware survey thing,

1366 x 768 is 26.11% and 1080p is only 33.27%... Maybe I should just stick with 1080 for a while

I would say wait until FreeSync is offically released, but you have Nvidia so yeah..

Honestly, what would you use it for? Just games? 1440p in games looks amazing but is really hard to run, and with your 970 the bandwidth for your card (from what I have heard) is a little slow.

I enjoy use 1440p because i'm constantly running over 20 windows/applications. I run everything. I enjoy the real estate that it provides. Yeah when I play games, and it looks amazing especially when I can turn it up to max but for me running games at max 1440p can be difficult, especially un-optimized or newer games, such as Minecraft or FarCry4.

Would you just use it for games? Or what you would really use it for?

P.S. I'm not saying it's more of a hassle than 1080p.
