Should I upgrade my old Alienware X51

So I currently have my old gaming desktop that I got back in 2013 that I
had since before I started building computers and the machine still
works and is in great condition with all of it's original parts.
Currently it has a core i3 3220 3.30 Ivy Bridge dual core with
hyperthreading, 1TB 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda hard drive, 6gb of DDR3
1600mhz ram, a OEM Nvidia Geforce GTX 645 graphics card with 1gb of
video memory, and a 240watt power brick. I was wondering if it's worth
upgrading the machine because I can upgrade the RAM, CPU, and hard drive
no problem but if I want to upgrade the GPU I have to get a better
power brick and the only one there is is the 330 watt one form dell
that's $160. Also the machine is limited to blower style cooler graphics
cards because of the cooling system designed where there's only a
single 50mm intake fan on the case and that's it and the CPU cooler and
GPU directly exhaust their heat out the back of the machine without any
heat being blown into the case. So do you think it's worth upgrading the
older machine that works perfectly I'm going to be using it as a spare
machine to use when my main desktop is bogged down from rendering a
video or if a friend comes over my friend will just play on it.

Do you know if the motherboard is propiatery because if its just a normal motherboard you could change the case out which would give you a lot of options for power supply’s and components.

I don't really wan't to take it out of it's origional case because I don't think it's worth moving all the parts because I already have a big gaming desktop and this one is a spare

Ah that makes sense I will have to say you probably won't notice a huge difference with an upgraded cpu and ram as you would with a new gpu in terms of gaming but you would need a power supply that is at least 400w if not 500w. You might be able to swing something like this but there recommending a 350w power supply at the least.

If you can hold off a year the GPU landscape may change dramatically. Chances are the 1050ti or Zen APU with R7 470 in dual gfx may be doable.
Another option is an off the shelf PSU and a can of Bondo.

The case is a proprietary ITX case and it uses a power brick like a laptop to power the machine it has no internal power supply

I would not bother upgrading it for gaming.
I'd put in a small (120GB) SSD, a large (4TB) HDD and use it as a HTPC / media server.
