Should I stick with AMD or switch to Intel

You have no ears.

because the cost/benefits of putting 500$/€ for now doesn't justify the performance here, nobody argues that intel is faster, that's a fact, but he's not upgrading from an entry level platform, it's already pretty solid.

My recomendation is to get the M5a99fx pro r.20, sell the 760 amd get a 780 or better a 780ti, for the price i would be a bigger performance hit.

If you just want to spend money then just get a 780ti or 290x and call it a day.

I'd just rather get a 780ti than a 290x, because they are just so over priced... Damn miners

I just don't know why your pretty much talking shit about AMD, and on your profile it says you have a fx 8350... If you really don't like AMD, why do you have it...

you mean a 780? cause the 780 ti's are overpriced as hell too :P

780 ti is still cheaper than a 290X in the states.

I think he's drunk or something haha. Don't sweat it.

  • 780: about $520
  • 780 ti: about $700
  • 290x: about: $710-$830

those benches are 5 years old.

I would say stick with the AMD setup for reasons that have been mentioned above.

bro, its not about me. it's what'scpue best for you.

bench mark after benchmark the intel platform out performs amd.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fx-9590-9370.html

check out the gaming bench mark.  cpu makes a huge difference. you got it in you to be the best. so I hope you make the right decision.

If you want to compile faster, get more RAM and use it as a disk. IO is the bottleneck for most stuff (except for the template contaminated metaprogramming C++ stuff like boost).

Really, this is ridiculous, use whatever cpu line you wish, build the best for the money spent, don't look back.

Letting someone troll you to get yer dander up, just lame.

anarekist, grow up please....

dude. stop trolling. I already told you.please, stop posting until you're sober.

i would stay AMD like i said earlier. its not realy worth it upgrading to hasswell i7. for codding. you need to spent alot of cash for a new mobo and cpu, and the benefit you will get out of it, would definitely not coffer that investment. Unless the FX8350 is not satisfied you enough. but then only a I7-4930K would do that..which will be a hughe investment

i would just buy a better motherboard, i dont know what your current board is? but the sabertooth you talked about, is realy a decent choice, comes with 5 year asus warrenty, also something to keep in mind. And sell the GTX760 and buy a better GPU.

For gaming the FX8350 I5-4670K I7-4770K i7-4930K. performing realy close to eachother, There are realy just a few games, that realy benefits, the better single core performance of intel cpu´s, and that are games with a bad optimized engine, for multi cores. like DayZ  and Arma,"" but on those games an i7 also makes no sense"".. On most games it does not matter much, intel and amd just perform realy close. so its no Brainer in my opinnion... just stay AMD.

Grtz Angel ☺

P.s please stop arguing, otherwise i gonne clean up this thread alot!

Anarekist, your statements are plain, old fashioned, WRONG.

To clear the air:

- AMD FX-8350 vs i7 4770k, taken on the 16th of January 2014: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=amd_kaveri_7850k&num=3. As you can see, on linux, the FX-8350 goes toe to toe with the i7, which is about 1.5-2 times as expensive.

- Here's a youtube review of someone who games and uses the CPU for productivity and, most importantly, PAID FOR BOTH CPUs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvLRZxRL8N8

It's your right to prefer a company/brand over another, nobody is telling you otherwise, but please, stop spreading misinformation.

EDIT: my bad, the i7 is about 1.5 times more expensive, I think I've exaggerated, I did some research and couldn't find one that was 2 times more expensive than the FX.
