Should I sell my i7 2600K?

Hey guys, I'm wondering if I should sell my 2600K and get maybe an AMD 8350 because my motherboard completely sucks, it's a Gigabyte Z68AP D3 rev2. The extra SATA ports which I use for my extra hard drives are in the way of the second PCI Express lane and preventing me from getting crossfire. If I move to AMD, I can get the 8350 for a reasonable price and their highest end motherboard comes with really well placed SATA ports while being under $200 and they're all 6gb speed.

Why not just buy a higher end Z68 board? Or are there none that would allow you to have crossfire and all the SATA ports? I simply ask because the i7 2600k is still a very, very capable CPU, there's really no reason to get rid of it.

Agreed, you should stick with the i7 2600k.

The i7 2600k is too good to throw away. Not sure why you would want to make that kind of side-grade to an 8350. To be honest, Crossfire setups are not that great. Just get a single, more powerful GPU.

just get a new highend z77 board for 2600k

Thanks for the feedback, I read some where that the 2600K wouldn't enjoy the features that are on z77 motherboards.  My current motherboard won't let me OC past 4.3 and the BIOS is pretty old.  I really do like the 2600K since its not that much slower than the Haswell.

I have a pretty decent GPU, it's a R9 290 Vapor X, the reason I'm considering Xfire is because I will be getting a 1440p monitor in the future and the front facing SATA ports are blocking the ability to do that.

R9 290 will boss 1440p

I'm kind of hesitant about upgrading just my motherboard because I don't know when my CPU will just stop working since it's been way past the warranty date. I guess there's always an option for Ivy Bridge but they're still pretty expensive compare to the AMD option.
