it's a dell U3014 , it was around $1500 and some of my friends said I should return it because of too much backlight bleeding, some said it is completely unacceptable this much bleeding for the price, others said if it doesn't bother me I should keep it because all dell "30 have some backlight bleed problem and I could get even worst than this.....
what should I do?
heck for $1500 I would expect nothing but perfection. My shimian has and equivalent amount of bleed but in a different pattern. That monitor was like £230 though.
I would return or at least contact dell
Backlight bleed isn't a valid reason to return a monitor, I don't think.
If this was purchased within the last 7 days you should be able to return it under simple goods and services guidelines. If a product isn't satisfactory, that is a good enough reason to return it, under any consumer protection laws.
Honestly, $1500 for that monitor is too much. Get a cheaper Korean panel, or an alternate brand. My ASUS 1440p has no backlight bleed. Believe it or not. Costs <$600
Neither of my cheap ass screens have backlight bleed ether. Some budget Benq which has the worst post processing I have ever seen and a 900p Flatron from LG with the worst colour depth and backlighting in terms of illumination I have ever had.. But I would expect better from Dell? Ill keep it in mind when I can afford a new screen. If I could get my hands on a 21:9...
You can also fix bleed with some electrical tape..
what do you mean fix the bleed with electrical tape?

Works with any monitor.
Will void your warranty, though.
I'm not going to do that, obviously. it's a brand new $1500 monitor.
I'd return it while you've got the option. I'm sure America has some sort of trading standards. If you're dissatisfied with it, don't wait, get your money back now. There's cheaper panels that are equally good (if not better), in my opinion.
