I have been looking to upgrade from my athlon II x 4 640 for a while now and have decided on a I7 3770k but a friend told me that the next gen of I7 are coming out in June. The question I'm asking is do i get a 3770k or do I wait a month and get the next gen equivilent?
You waited this long to upgrade why not wait a month. i would wait and see what comes out people will be selling there old 3770ks maybe for cheap.

I heard the Haswell is only going to be a 5-10% improvement. But the integrated graphics will be a lot better.
If the prices are around $400 for Haswell, if you're going to use a discrete graphics card, and if prices drop a little for the 3770k, go with the 3770k. If you don't mind paying a little extra if Haswell is gonna be around $400, and if you're not going to use a discrete graphics card, go with the new Haswell i7
Depends on how long you are willing to wait. If you wait for it then you can get new boards with new feature sets as well.
IF your near a microcenter then buy the i7-3770k its like 229$ atm. Yeah I would go for haswell but it'll cost you a pretty penny. Only reason i'd go for haswell is because they switched motherboards.. So if you get an ivy bridge you can't upgrade anymore.
your ivy bridge + moba combo will not last you 2 days... so it does not matter if you cant upgrade... by the time you want to upgrade haswell will be dirt cheap or you might as well be getting a skylake.
