Should I buy Morrowind/Oblivion?

Morrowind is on sale today on steam for $5, and Oblivion GOTY for $6.24. Normal Oblivion (presumably without the DLC) is $5.

Anyway, I'm wondering if it is worth it to buy one or both of these games. I have Skyrim, which I really, really enjoyed - even without mods - but I'm curious as to whether these games are still worth playing with Skyrim around. Of course at such low prices it's hard to go wrong, but what do you guys think about Morrowind and Oblivion compared to Skyrim?

Definitely. Most fans of the series would argue they are better than vanilla Skyrim. You can't really go wrong at this price.

I suppose part of my question is this: Has anyone played Morrowind or Oblivion, then played Skyrim, and then returned to either of those and found they couldn't enjoy them anymore? Or just starting with Skyrim and finding that they couldn't enjoy Morrowind or Oblivion?

I just fear I will buy these and they will travel to the land of forgotten steam games, along with Fallout 3/NV.

I have played morrowind and oblivion, then skyrim, and I actually enjoyed oblivion more after I returned to it from skyrim. Oblivion is my favorite out of all the Elder Scrolls games I have played.

yes just mod oblivion and it will look better than skyrim. It's the only reason i'd find it hard to go back

Yeah.  If you've got the $10, pick them up.  No brainer.  They're great games.  Morrowind's mechanics take a bit of getting used to if you're coming from Skyrim or Oblivion (I went Oblivion>Morrowind>Skyrim). That's really the only knock on it I can think of.  Buy.  Mod.  Enjoy.

Just started replaying Morrowind... I can handle it just fine.  Far better than Skyrim, IMO.  But if you're interested in waiting to play Skywind rather than Morrowind, I'm pretty sure you'll still need a copy of Morrowind.

I made my sister play through Oblivion after she loved Skyrim, and she agreed that it, too, is better.

Thanks for all the advice. I decided to pick both of them up; worst case scenario I hate them, but I still gave some developers I really like some money.

But I doubt I'll hate them. I might end up using some mods for Morrowind to make the combat more similar to Skyrim and Oblivion, but I'm not sure yet. What are some good graphical mods for improving both games visually? I'll likely just play the vanilla games in terms of quests and everything to begin with.
