I watched the new video about soundcards yesterday. I have been wanting to buy an Asus Xonar DGX soundcard for quite a while, but I just wanted to wait and see if there was a deal on it or something new came out. Now after watching that video I am wondering if I should even buy a soundcard. I don't have any high-end headphones or speakers, just some logitech 5.1 speakers (can't remember the name) and a SteelSeries 5Hv3 headset. I only use my computer to play games, watch videos and all that usual stuff. I just want better sound for my games, and positional audio is quite a big thing/"Concern" for me, since I play alot of CS: GO.
Is it a bad idea to buy that soundcard or any soundcard at all ? Right now i'm just using my onboard audio.
From watching the video yesterday I'd say the only reason you'd need a soundcard is if you were producing high quality audio, which you aren't.
Even Logan said he wouldn't buy another soundcard, and he's making a living (I think?) off Youtube videos, so there is, in my opinion after watching the video, absolutely no need at all for a soundcard.
Nor am I, although after watching the video I found my headset did sound better when plugged into the rear of the computer instead of the front, it doesn't really make a difference with my speakers though, so now my speakers go in the front and the headset goes in the back.
