Hi everyone, I have a really big decision to make,
Im thinking of buying a premade(I dont feel like making my own) computer to do mainly gaming on and eventually start a youtube channel on(i need to be able to render). The developer of Just Cause 4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5rYybJfkxQ) recently said that the ps4 would outperform pc's for years. Although my entire life I've been a pc gamer and I want to video edit, having a $2000 dollar gaming computer outmatched by a $600 dollar console would really be embarrasing. Do you guys believe that the ps4 will outperform pc's in games for years? If it matter my approximate specs are listed below, I will use either cyberpower or ibuypower.
Well first off, you won't be able to use the ps4 for general use or video editing, so if that's important it's a no go.
As far as price comparison, yes the ps4 will be cheaper, but it's functionality is much more limited than a pc. Consoles are specialized machines, not general use machines.
The ps4 could theoretically outperform mid-range pc's at launch, but a 3770k overclocked with your video cards (or you could invest in a single 680 or 690) is more powerful than a ps4. The difference being how games are developed for them.
As I said in the console section of the forums, since consoles are specialized machines, developers know what hardware the game is running on. With pc games, it is uncertain what hardware will be used, so they have to develop for a range of hardware.
Finally, the new consoles may be able to keep pace for a few years, but that will only spur developers to create games for the pc that cosoles can't handle.
p.s. I plan on getting a ps4 in addition to my pc, mostly because of ps4 and console exclusive games. At the same time it's totally understandable if you don't want to or can't afford both.

this is a build with similar preformance to ps4 specs

for 1000$ you can blow a ps4 out of the water and this isnt even counting sales you can usally find
so no the ps4 will not be out preforming pc's by a long shot and if some one say they will their mentally ill.
plus don't get a comp with 650 ti's in sli. if you're serious about video editing and you need cuda and will be doing it daily get nvidia 660 ti and above. but if you want to game more get an amd 7950 or 7970.
A computer of fucking course, that's a pretty decent setup but unless you're doing video editing or something i'd drop down to 8 on the ram and a 3570k on the cpu and use that saved money to buy a single very powerful GPU. ;) Good luck
dude go with the pc, building your own computer is a hell of an experience and if you gear it towards gaming and get a decent monitor you will stun yourself with how good some of the graphics are.
i think the reason he said that (and I think he exaggerated a bit, but he is probably right, it's going to be better as XBOXes though). is, that games will benefit from these extra cores from the PS4. It will be an amd 8-core. So, how about you choose an amd 8-core system. Problem solved. But wait for the new cpu's that are coming out probably this year...?!
This is a joke, let's say the PS4 costs £500, you can get your own custom built gaming pc now that will outperform it. And when the PS4 is realeased, prices will probably fall a lot for hardware, so you could get an even better system. I don't get how people can have the ignorance to beleive a console can outdo a PC at the same price, especially not beyond, and then to spread that "Belief", he was probably paid off by Sony.
Simply put, how could a console's GPU power beat a 690 or a Titan for example, there will never be room in a consoles pricetag for that kind of power. Same applies to other PC hardware, PS4 may have an SSD and all the idiots that can't tell the difference in performance will say it beats a PC by miles, which simply won't be. This is really mundane and I could go on for hours with it, but I won't.
Your two 650 Ti's won't be beaten by a console anytime soon.
'recently said that the ps4 would outperform pc's for years'
I think it means it is more powerful than your everyday facebook computer, not a gaming computer, quite a ridiculous choice of words if you ask me and we will be feeling the aftermath of fanboys blindly using it against us...I can hear them now.
