Should I buy a Blu-Ray Writer?

Hi all,

Just wanted to know know your opinion on whether or not it is worth buying a Blu-Ray Writer. I have a Blu-Ray reader in my PC and really want to have the option of being able to burn bigger files to Blu-Ray Discs, which can be bought really cheap on amazon (25 Discs for around $25).

I am considering buying an external Blu-Writer (This one http://www.amazon.com/BUFFALO-MediaStation-Portable-Blu-Ray-Writer/dp/B008CNXXM4/ref=sr_1_12?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1416988111&sr=1-12&keywords=Blu+Ray+Writer).

I am worried that Blu-Ray's are going to be obsolete in the future and was hoping to get your opinion on the matter.

Thanks All,

Baelor Stark.

I have a samsung blu-ray writer. It's good. I burn CDs for my car and DVDs of home movies to give to my family/friends. I burn the occasional blu-ray for video as well. It's still the best way of giving someone a large video to watch that is plug and play. They can just pop it into their player and watch on their 40-55 inch TV instead of using their computer.

I also use it to back up work and personal documents (as a fourth backup).

Get one that isn't too expensive and this is reliable.
