Sorry, if this is the wrong category for this, but I wanted to inquire on the shipping cost. Now, I know, shipping to Germany isn’t exactly cheap, but does the shipping cost of three of the same items (wanted to grab some of the deskmats from the sale) really have to be x-times the shipping cost for one item? I mean, they arrive in the same package?
This is the shipping cost for one package, it’s just scaled for the weight of the package.
Try with quantity 1:
The more you order in one go the less the “base” cost of the packages weighs in. More items scales the total shipping cost up, but the shipping relative per item goes down (i.e. 1 item = 24,25; 3 items = 38,50, so 12,83 per item).
edit:
Since you’re in Germany, don’t forget about customs. When I got my package about 2 years ago (a couple of Deskmats + Mousepads, T-Shirts, 2 glasses for a total of ~250$ + Shipping), my customs ticket was another ~70 Euro.
There’s already a thread about this in the Community section.
Not sure if the thread will answer your question.
Thanks for clearing that up! 2 items seems to be the sweet spot then
International shipping is expensive. And iirc the fees have gone up since the pandemic too.
I kinda doubt that L1T is increasing the price for shipping to make additional profit on the selling, so it’s what the shipping company asks for. Weight, size of the package and destination have a big impact on the fee, even if the value of goods is low. As an example, I ordered 2 of the same book from Book Depository. They shipped both from the UK to Austria. When I hit them up and asked to send it back for a refund they said I had to send it to Australia and the shipping cost would be almost as much as the book itself. On top of that is all the customs bullcrap. Fortunately they told me they make a one time exception and give me a refund without having to send it back.
It was just an innocent question. I am well aware that international shipping is expensive, but I didn’t know that adding a little extra to the package (deskmats aren’t that heavy) would increase the cost so fast. Now I know
Considering the desk mat at $11 most likely came from china I get it.
In fairness, it was $22 before the sale that’s why I wanted to stock up on some. But shipping these days makes that less attractive, unfortunately
