Server and gaming PC combined

So I'm planning on building a server to store and share all my films, music, photos and documents with my other computers in the house so I don't need to use an online cloud system like dropbox or google drive. I also want to build a gaming pc. I was wondering instead of building 2 sperate machine, could I combine all the hardware so I could run games like Crysis and COD whilst all my data is being shared to my other systems?

Obviously the server needs to be running constantly so I assume the hardware would have to be at 'enterprise' level.

easily. the big thing is the hard drive. get a WD RE drive for you data drive. it's less than getting a red and a black, but is faster than the red, but still an enterprise drive.

Im assuming you have a server / gaming rig in one, what do you reckonmend for motherboard, cpu, gpu and psu?

I don't atm, but i've got one planned and i've done alot of research. get an i5, a good mobo, enterprise drives, and a good 80+ silver/gold psu.

Are you planning to use raid1 for your data?

WD Reds are pretty cheap for what y0u get, throw a bunch of those in, use windows 8 storage spaces or some other way to manage your HDD setup and if you want RAID the drives, just make sure your case has enough HDD mounts and some good airflow/noise dampening so it doesent drive you nuts.

Get an intel mobo with mvp an your computer should be able to do some nice powersaving for running 24x7 then just get a decent raid controller and a buch of cheap satas and put them in raid 5.
