Serious conversation about consoles:

Please correct me if I am wrong, but there is a forgotten community of console games out there, a respectable, tolerant and genuinely interested in gaming community, that simply happens to opt for a console. These people sometimes are not hard core, they opt for consoles for the convenience and ease of use and for the fact that maybe they don’t care or have no time to care (due to work, school, etc..) about what graphics card will be able to play what games at the highes res. or if they need to updated their platform to haswell or not, or simply just like a lot of other things in life they simply like consoles because they like consoles.

I like to think I am one of those people; I love computers I really do. But it is hard for me to get around building a system, tweaking it, updating it constantly and so on. I grew up on consoles and PC’s, I know them both, but funny enough sometimes I few like I am the only one that have gone from PC back to consoles.

Finally, my questions are:

Am I crazy? Does anybody out there see things the way I do?

Has anybody else gone from PC back to console?

I can see the point. But I wouldn't go back to console gaming. Too much DRM, slow loading times, frame-rate issues, and more, not to mention it carries a premium. Highly conveinient, but not the best experience. Kinda like McDonalds...

I was the same way at first, always resorting to my 360 when I wanted to get a quick game in but then I realized I can do the exact same thing on PC. Not to mention all the fun I'm having now just tweaking the PC itself.

I have loved consoles my whole life with no complaints but have always been interested in building a gaming PC. Finally got around to doing that last black friday. I still have my 360 but now its only a "party" system. Only games I have left are fun splitscreen games.

I am debating whether I should get rid of it right now because I have a Gamecube with all the ultimate party games (Mario Party, Smash Bros, etc.) I have loved my consoles so much and they never let me down until I started PC gaming and noticing the terrible framerates on consoles (mainly Borderlands 2) and falling in love with the mouse/keyboard.

If PC gaming had splitscreen functionality as often as consoles my 360 would be gone in an instant. Hopefully Steams big picture mode will encourage more splitscreen gaming. You'd think that high end rigs could easily handle splitscreen...

I haven't exactly gone back to consoles( I never was on consoles), but I treat them as an almost equal gaming platform to PC( at least, with the next gen consoles. This gen, not so much).

In fact, I'm getting a PS4( especially since my Vita[ which I don't really consider as a console] will be a great companion device for it).

I game on my PC and use my ps3 as my blu-ray media box in the lounge room. My son also enjoys gaming on it. I will perhaps grab a copy of that 'Last of us' game though since the story seems really good. I have only ever owned 1 game for it - gt5..

I grew up on an 8bit nes and c64 and 386's so I owe my love for tech to both leagues. I think consoles have their place, mainly cause I dont want peeps touching my personal pc rig.

They are not mutually exclusive.

Even back in the golden age of gaming I had an Amiga and a NES. Then later I moved onto PC but also had a Playstation and N64. Then in the next gen I had a decent gaming PC, Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube and Xbox. Now I currently have a PS3, 360 and a decent PC.

I have never bought a console at launch though, I would always play the latest games on PC until there were reason enough to buy the console. This would usually be 2-3 years into its lifespan where you can pick up the consoles and the games for much cheapness.

Anyone that calls themselves a gamer cannot dismiss a game because of the platform it runs on. If you want to play Demon Souls, you need a PS3. Thats good enough reason to get into console gaming.

Shouldn't have to buy consoles just for the exclusives, especially when you have a more than capable machine ready to play them and especially with this next generation of consoles running x86 makes it so much easier to port to PC. Although yes at the end of the day Sony and Microsoft are both businesses and wherever they can make a buck they will. In saying that I recently bought a 3DS XL to play Pokemon and the new Zelda game that is going to be released.
