Sending BTC through mail?

Hey guys, Just ordered some btc off Ebay. He was advertising to send it straight into my wallet but it looks he is going to send it through the mail? I have no idea how I'm going to put the coin in my wallet. Any ideas?

he will likely be sending you a QR code or a serial number for the transaction.

How would I redeem it? I've been working with BTC for over a year now and never have had to deal QR code/serial number.

If you are using Bitcoin QT you will hit the Receive button and enter in the transaction information manually.

Oh, so I have to request it from him? Sounds like alot more work when he could just send them to my address.

you can always hope for this

In my humble opinion: sending BT through mail = making a donation to the NSA, or some other cracker-group.

Unless there's bucket loads of crypto involved

sending BT through mail = making a donation to the NSA, or some other cracker-group.

Not email. Regular mail. Snail mail. It will most likly be a bitcoin transaction written on a piece of paper. The most non-digital way to send it.

right, gosh that's embarrassing.

anyway thanks for helping me read

Its alright, I'm sure there's a government agency to take care of regular mail, too.

Yep, The U.S. postal service takes a picture of every envelope processed and records the address and return address and the order in which it was processed. its like capturing the meta data of snail mail.
