Hey all. I'm getting a sempron 145 just to start up my new pc, so I have a hd 5450, which will be bottlenecked by the sempron 145. So I have to wait about 3 months 15 days ( till August) for me to get the fx 8320. Iv got the cpu and ram, but I'm waiting for my mobo from amazon which will come on Monday cause of the BHARATH BANDH in India, so I was asking, what games will I be able to play? I mean till when? And if I unlock it will I be able to play prototype 2 @ 30 fps?. I want to play wow wrath of the lich king.
And can I play far cry 2 at max settings 24 fps?
No...i have a box full of HD5450's i have acquired over the years from repairing and salvageing the last time i used one was with a amd phenom ii x4 965 as a temp video card and it couldn't run doom 3 at the lowest setings and lowest resolution + i dubt far cry will even start up on a single core cpu.
If he has a board that supports it he can unlock the second core but farcry 4 requires a quad core or better as demonstrated by linus not too long ago.
**correction farcry 2 might actually run on a dual core worth something. gonna take a hit but your expecting that anyway
Hey thanks for replying. I played far cry 1 on max settings except for the lighting to med cause of the bug, on my athlon 64 x2 4000+ with the hd 5450. And yes I have a board wich supports core unlocking but it's just luck so I'm prepared for the worst. I am just getting it to play retro type games and stuff. Il just try unlocking it and ofcourse I will get it to Atleast 3.5 ghz.
So, if I'm luck and get the silicone thing right, and get the oc to about 3.5 ghz, exactly how much would the thing go up to?
And any recommendations that I can play with my computer. Any great retro type games. Like upto 2005 or 6
Il try call of duty and battlefield 2 and 1943, and the the whole pop trilogy. Far cry 1 and 2, warcraft 3, wow, age of empires, age of mythology, elder scrolls morrowind with tons of mods. And a question. Since my athlon cpu had a single core performance, lower than this sempron, would I see a increase in fps in mmos and other games using a single core?

You totally shoulda gone with an APU build though, a low end APU can run a lot of modern titles at recent resolutions and frame rates.
Man. That's a sweet rig. You'll be able to play Crisis 3 at like a million FPS.
Not all Sempron 145's are made equal. Around 2011 they stopped using locked dies and made them out of dedicated single-core silicon.
There are a few back-logged chips I'm sure you could find that have unlockable cores, but of the 10 I got out of a bitcoin mining farm, only one was unlockable and it had a production date of 1046 (46th week of 2010). All others were mid-2011 to late 2012, and could not unlock.
The HD 5450 is a bottom-of-the-barrel GPU. You could get away with some older games, but even a game like Oblivion would need you to lower settings to Medium at best.
I'm just going to tell you frankly, you've got a machine of 5 year old parts, that 5 years ago was considered low-end. Gaming is basically not an option.
Hey all thanks for replying. I finally got my mobo and I got lucky with the core unlocking. My second core is unlocked and sorta stable cause I played a few games and it worked fine. I clocked it to 3360mhz and I'm running prime95. Been an hour and a half. So far so good. So tomorrow il be downloading some games, cause I'm free the whole day. Seeing stuff on this thread il be playing diablo 2 and counter strike. For now. Any more suggestions u guys got?

You could always just emulate older console games.
Ummmm.... I get the fact that I'm running old hardware, but I'm happy that I got some old hardware, and some top hardware. I got an
Asus M5A78L M USB 3
And
Corsair Vengeance 4gb ram.
An for course these two gpu and cpu. It will take about 3 months for my fx 8320, and another 2 months for my r9 270x, so I'm looking at a whole 5 months of time for just gaming from 1990s to 2007.
So yeah I googled best games of 2007, and I got out bioshock, cause I sorta liked the trailer and the graphics, and I'd seen people play it on an intel celeron something at 1.8 ghz single core and a hd 5450, i downloaded that and I played it. Works good just setting some cpu bound settings down.
And a Sempron 145 is a cpu that's basically capable of word processing. In all seriousness any FM2 system with no dedicated gpu would play games better.
