I have a Compal SR120-2 server with SP-A121P motherboard (Intel C206 chipset) and I’m struggling with fan control.
The problem:
- Fans running at very high RPM (10000+) despite low temperatures (30-32°C)
- BMC web interface has fan control JSON configuration, but changes are ignored
- IPMI raw commands all return “Invalid command” errors
What I’ve tried:
- Multiple JSON configurations with different duty cycles (25%-70%)
- Various IPMI raw commands (0x30 0x45, 0x30 0x91, etc.)
- BMC reset and server reboot
- JSON settings save but don’t apply
BMC Information:
- Manufacturer ID: 50630 (Compal)
- Product ID: 56413 (0xDC5D)
- Firmware Revision: 2.62
- IPMI Version: 2.0
What I’m looking for:
- Updated BMC firmware for SP-A121P
- IPMI OEM commands documentation for Compal
- Any working fan control solutions for this platform
- Alternative approaches to reduce fan noise
Has anyone worked with this platform or have access to Compal firmware/documentation? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
