[Second Life] CTD when your rezing into the world using the 13.8 driver, if i use the 13.4 driver it works fine. wondering if anyone that has a HD7970 using the 13.8 driver could test out [second life] to see if they get the same problem. i have tried many configurations of settings in the CCC control panel, and in SL game settings, but to no avail.
but as i said 13.4 driver works fine, just would be informative to see if anyone with a HD7970 has the same problem. or anyone using the 13.8 driver could give [Second Life] a Try, to see if it works on there card..
I let a friend that plays secondlife try it on my system with an Asus 7970 and the Catalyst 13.8 beta. It's an arch system. The only thing it did that was not normal is that the start screen above the login panel was black, but in-world everything was normal. The start screen being black has probably more to do with the fact that there are only open source browser plugins on my PC, and I guess the custom and very dated browser than Linden Lab uses, can't find particular libs or plugins, but that makes no difference whatsoever for the in-world experience.
Thanks for the link, fantastic, that is my problem, AMD suck so bad for driver updates. I will stick with the Catalyst 13.4 as its working Fine for me.
There was a similar problem with BF2 when the new BF3 drivers came out On the HD4970 and below cards, you could not play BF3 unless u got the new driver, but with the new driver you got glitches in BF2. So you had to install old drivers to play BF2, and new Drivers for BF3, or buy a new card. Then you can play both BF2 and BF3 on the new Drivers.
Guarantee I will have to update my drivers to play BF4, and then I won’t be able to play SecondLife. So in that case I just won’t get BF4 as I wasted £90+ on BF3 anyway. BF2 PR is better than BF3, IMO.
