How good and reliable would something like http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=8991299&sku=XEA-102409996&SRCCODE=WEM4421JU&utm_source=EML&utm_medium=main&utm_campaign=WEM4421&[email protected] be. I need the backup storage for movies, books, and possibly secondary backup of pictures.
I was wondering does anyone have anything similar? In the past the larger drives had a higher fail rate or corruption rate and I was wondering if they are much better nowadays.
seagates are at the bottom of the pack when it comes to reliability.
I dont trust anything over 2TB. Or anything from Seagate.
I agree with you about the capacity thing but I've never owned any Seagate products. My 2TB Toshiba external has been going strong for almost 4 years now. A friend of mine got a 3TB Toshiba and it crapped out in just over 2 years (he did have it running 24/7 tho).
2x on Toshiba being great external drives. ive had my 1TB drive for about 5-6 years and its still going strong. as a backup drive it SHOULD NOT be plugged in unless you doing backups, that kind of defeats the purpose.
