SD Flash vs USB Flash nand memory endurance?

Just a shower thought since usb flash drives seem to be over complicated for what they are compared to what fits on a sliver of micro sd plastic. The pcb isn’t just usb controller bits right? Doesn’t seem to add up.

Anyways this is what I’ve found, small writes seem to destroy nand much faster than writing as pages, but I guess the question is which flash drives write in which modes and how could we ever find out.

I wonder if on average usb flash drives have better controllers than sd cards.

The answer is almost always yes. for comparison, Look at the ARM SBCs and compare their SD read/write speeds. You can find that for the same SOC on different boards, the read write speeds differ greatly. Where as with USB (same version, gen) the speeds are a little more in line.
