Screen flickers/disconnects at >100Hz

KVM Model:

1.4 Display Port KVM Switch - Dual Monitor - Two Computer

USB Interface (5-gigabit or 10-gigbit):

5-gigabit

Problem:

I have two displays connected, a 2560x1440p @60Hz which works fine.
My aw3423dwf (3440x1440p) however has issues. Up to 100Hz it works fine with HDR enabled disabled.
Once I go above that (165HZ) it has gray flicker artifacts and the screen goes black for seconds sometime or disconnects. This happens wether HDR is on or off.

Both displays are connected via 2x 2 meter Club 3D DisplayPort cable CAC-2068.

From what I was able to find here this should work at 165Hz. Any input on troubleshooting steps would be much appreciated.

Do both sides support DSC? That’s a requirement for this resolution and refresh rate with DP 1.4.

Same cable between pc/kvm and kvm/monitor? Club3D does have a good reputation… otherwise it does sound like it could be a bad cable.

Monitor supports DSC, graphics card is a EVGA 3080 with DP 1.4 so it should as well.

Yes, both monitors have the same CLub3D cables, I tried switching them around aswell which didn’t help.

I’d try getting a 3 foot club3d and trying that. sometimes the Alienware is picky. any thing in osd about fast training, handshake or eco mode? field updatable firmware?

Found none of the 3 in the osd.
I’ll try with a 1m cable, though that will probably be to short for the kvm->pc side because of my standing desk.

There is no more “blackouts” and a lot less flickering with two 1m cables, but it’s not completely gone.
So probably the only chance is to bypass the kvm for the main monitor and switch it manually

its possible its external interference. try a ferrite bead or another brand of 1 meter cable. The people in germany keep getting spaghetti thin club3d cables which imho makes me think they’re not real

Monitors Unboxed just reviewed some DP 2.1 cables. Silkland DP80 2m. I bought this one since i wanted a longer cable than what Alienware provides. I have the aw3423dw version of that monitor.

Silkland 80Gbps DisplayPort Cable…

These cables are pretty beefy and seem.well built. Theyve worked well.for me in.other kvm set ups.
