Sci-Fi Books

Can anyone recommend any good SciFi, books? Possibly with a dystopiam future or cyberpunk style? I've just finished the hitchhikers 'trilogy'. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

1984 and Brave New World are about as distopian as you can get. Enders Game is easily my favorite sci-fi book/series ever, not so much distopian or cyberpunk but it's written so well you feel like your living it.

It's a bit left of centre, but I would recommend China Mieville's 'Perdido Street Station'. It is somewhere between cyber and steam punk really - Mieville actually produces a very original world here. Fantastic read. Still jumps into my mind from time to time and I read it nearly ten years ago.

I would dare to say anything by Phillip K. Dick

Start with "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury comes to mind as well as the Barcode Tattoo trilogy by Suzanne Weyn. I could also suggest the "Epic" books if you haven't read them yet and if you want a good short story, go read Harrison Bergeron.

Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash is fantastic.  It's pretty classic cyberpunk and does have a dystopian aspect.  A partly amusing piece of it is that the 'future' is more or less present day in a lot of technological aspects, and you can see how Neal Stephenson's predictions turn out to be pretty accurate.

Another of his books, Cryptonomicon, is also definitely worth a read.

Also, not a book but the game Hard Reset is outstanding. It nails Cyberpunk right on the head.

Thank you all for the recommendations! ive started with Perdido Street Station and Dune already, and i love them!

World War Z is really good too its worth looking at

If your familiar with Warhammer 40k some of their novels are fantastic.

I reccomend the Gaunts Ghost's series or the Eisenhorn books.

Peter F Hamilton is a sci-fi legend

I agree with Spekor:
nearly everything by Phillip Kindred Dick, but I would start with Flow My Tears The Policeman Said

And of course Stanislav Lem. One of my favorites is The Futurological Congress

+1 for flow my tears the policeman said and do androids dream of electric sheep. I like orson scott card specifically the enders series, I just finished shadow of the giant which was excellent.

Hyperion by Dan Simmons, Amazing.

Metagame by Sam Landstrom. Strange and wonderful book. You can find it on amazon, there's also a legitimate free version on the mobi read forums posted by the author himself. Just google to find it.

                                                                                                                                           -Enjoy.

"The Black Cloud" by Fred Hoyle is good. If you never read "Contact" by Carl Sagan I would suggest it. For good insights, I really love novels written by scientists.

The Mote In God's Eye by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournell

Empire by Orson Scott Card is a pretty good read for the dystopian future and it is followed by Hidden Empire.
