Sata HDD showing as Sata III HDD when connected via USB 3.0

Hi I was wondering if anyone can explain why a Sata HDD and a Sata II HDD run as Sata III when connected via a Sata to USB 3.0 adapter. I ran Speccy to get an overview of my system and it stated that my USB 3.0 connected Sata and Sata II HDD where Sata III. I’m not a noob by any means but I really can’t get my head round this any advice will be appreciated…

Can you check with Crystal Disk Info and possibly post a screenshot?
From my experience Crystal Disk Info shows the most accurate info.

Hi Hako I did as you suggested and Crystal Disk Info did indeed give the accurate results as you suggested it would. I’m still unsure as to why Speccy would give the results it did but I will be using Crystal Disk Info going forward thank you for your guidance :grinning: :+1:

No problem, glad I could help.

1)forget that Speccy exists, 2) a SATA HDD connected over USB is still a SATA HDD using USB as interface, Crystal Disk Info should show that properly.
