Sata 2 or Sata 3

My computer has a Sata 3 6gb/s ssd installed along with a Sata 3 6gb/s WD 1tb. Both of these use up all of my Sata 3 6gb/s ports but I want to get a 3tb to record games. My first question is would the write speed from a sata 3 hdd plugged into a sata 2 port be enough to record 1080p? I heard that you should be getting at least 100mb/s write speed to record at 1080p. The 1tb I have is just for my Steam games so would it be ok to put that hdd on a sata 2 port and then put the 3tb on the sata 3 port? I'm thinking I'll do that, I don't think Steam games NEED sata 3.

Edit: Both the 1tb I have and the 3tb I'll be getting are both 7200 rpm.

wont make a scrap of difference mate. sata 2 has more than enough bandwidth for whatever mechanical hard drive you throw at it.

save sata 3 ports for ssd's.

always run HDD on sata i recommend that you take the 1tb you have plugged into the sata 3 and put it in the 2 just so you have the free sata3

Mechanical hard drives can't even come close to using all the bandwidth in SATA 2 anyway even if it does say they are SATA 3 compatible. The only thing you need to plug into SATA 3 are SSDs.
