that’s good to know. I did not want to scroll through 2000 posts. If the RT3200 is not stable well I guess it should be avoided. How are the other routers. As I understand it some of them have stable builds
I probably need a /28 for a wireguard vpn, but the context of my comment was about space for a work VPN, keeping off the commonly used subnets by corporate vpns.
I talked to the former owner today and he said that keeping his AP in the same room I’m planning to, he had no issues with signal anywhere in the house, i might just go with a single beefy ap for the time being.
I do want to get as much performance as i can though, as i don’t currently have a wire. (That will probably change)
Stable builds does not equal “stable functionality”, 11ax is experimental at best. ath10k is by far the most “stable” (reliable) option as far as OpenWrt goes (and most likely open source in general) however implementations are usually quite slow compared to 11ac mt76 counterparts. There is some quirkiness at times with mt76 so it’s not an obvious replacement. If you don’t mind your wifi acting weird and unstable at times by all means go for 11ax.
My Unifi AP6 lite has given me reception all over (including detached garage) the property (typical SoCal sized place and lot). I actually avoided a Long Range version as it was warned it’s “too good”, neighbors and neighbors of those neighbors wifi ‘noise’ would stink up your wifi.
Hmmm, I will probably just go with the wifi 6 again. They’ve been consistently acceptable, but nothing past that.
So fiber gets installed Saturday. Turns out they need to run a line from the node, and it’ll be terminated in the garage. I’m hoping the installer will be willing to run it into the laundry.
I don’t remember myself but the 6 lite had just come out and is already overkill for my use-case so went for it. Its been great, controller is a docker container and the logs go to my Splunk.
I think since buying my 6 lite the wifi 6 LR has come out. I honestly don’t track any of the new Unifi products cause I’ve been set with this one.
My UF is rocking 4 right now and I thiiiiiink it supports 5 at least, I don’t recall.
Do any of your devices use it? DO you plan to adopt an entire ecosystem in that area in the duration you own the AP? Im saying ask the common sense question. I literally use 802.11ac still
