http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TjMyZL I have decided to trade up to a tri-x, so the aftermarket isnt neccesary. Will my G700W power the whole thing though? The Sapphire website says 750W minimum, but pcpartpicker.com says it's fine..
700W is wayyyy enough realy.
You can trade your GTX760 for a Sapphire 290 TriX OC for €35,-?
i think thats a good deal, if the card can be tested before. Allways test a 290, because it could be used for mining.
I would wait and just play at medium 1440p for now
Yup, in fact I have, and recieved a bf4voucher as well. Is there not a single moment the system will draw more power than 700W? Because when that happens the system crashes right?
Hey guys, I have bought the card, it is currently being used in my system with a 500W PSU, I'm not running any heavy games until Tuesday, when my 700W PSU comes in.
Thanks to you all for your quick responses and your patience with me.
The tri-x 290 to be precise
Nope 700w is fine .
Your peak would only be about 600w MAX , and you only need 850w for SLI .
Well perfect then :D
Have fun , the TRIX is a great cooler , and if you feel like a project for the new year you can paint it to get rid of the orange shroud .
I just removed the shroud and painted it black : http://imgur.com/GSqNqjc
That matte black looks really awesome
Yeah that and a good backplate and the 290 trix looks amazing .
Is your 1440p monitor high refresh rate ?
I'm thinking of upgrading to a 144hz 1440p monitor , but I don't know if it's worth adding a second card .
500W will be also totaly fine.
I found my reference 290x disappointing, it was faulty however. But if you can get the card for a good price and can trust that it's in good working condition it could be a good card for the money.
One thing planned for my reference 290x was watercooling it with an NZXT G10 and a 120mm closed loop CPU water cooler, I tried it briefly and the temps were much better.
In the case of a properly working card I would imagine it would also help hugely with the throttling the reference cards have issues with.
It's a 60Hz, but I'm one of those people who isnt bothered by it so imo it isnt worth it, but its all opinion
