SAPPHIRE HD 7770 GHz Edition OC 1GB GDDR5 "CRASHING"

Hi guys...

Since first day I had this graphic card is been really anoying since I cannot play any late game not even in low resolution and all low settings... I´m not a big gamer just casual and don´t have a big screen (max resolution is 1280x1024) so i'm pretty much sure it should handle modern games quite fast... I mostly play games like wow: cataclysm and this is the only game i been able to play for long periods of time (but with all settings on low and all filters off).

The problem is I got Hitman: absolution and The Walking Dead the Game, but this two can´t even get a minute of play since the PC just shut down the second I try to play.

I upgraded to Catalyst version 13.2 from 13.1, but same thing.

PC have:

  • windows 7 ultimate 64bits
  • AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
  • 8 GB Dual-Channel DDR3
  • Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 --> http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3907#ov
  • SAPPHIRE HD 7770 GHz Edition OC 1GB GDDR5 --> http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1159&pid=1468&lid=1
  • Main disk is 128 GB SSD and second is 1 TB HDD
  • Power supply is an APEVIA 680W --> http://www.apevia.com/ProductsInfo.asp?KEY=ATX-IB680W-BL#

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Heat? Heat causes problems. Check your temps when it's under load.

The card is crashing or your computer shuts down?

I manage to play wow and it runs around 45° C, how could I chek temp on other games as it just shut down as soon as I get to the game.

besides the PC shuts down

After looking at your computer parts i'd say its more likely the psu after doing a little reading about it,its poor psu giveing less than 70% efficiency and useing a dual 12v rail and dosen't put out a good amount of Amp's

You can use msi afterburner to display info on your graphics card you can use this allso for overclocking gpus.

Try underclocking the gpu and see if it makes a difernce becase its defantly not overheating that card can go up to 75-85c
