Sapphire 7950 OC

So I just recently got my 7950 OC Boost edition.

Its stock Core clock was 925 (Boosted from 850). The memory was at 1250.

I wanted more.

I Benchmarked my card in Heaven, and got the following score.

Then I bumped up the voltage to +20%, and boosted the core to 1200Mhz. (Maximum allowed for this card).

No good. Artifacts toward the end of the Benchmark. So I lowered the clock to 1195. Just 5Mhz lower. and Passed. Yay!

New score.

Thats great. But I can do more.

I upped the core clock to 1500Mhz, but I started getting artifacts again. (Oh, no!). I did some tests, and lowered the core clock to 1180. No artifacts anymore, the Benchmark completed without flaw, and these are my final results.

So I took my core from (stock) 850 to 1180, and my memory from 1250 to 1500. And got around 9 FPS increase. My temps never went above 65C.

I for one, see this as sucessful, and highly recommend this card for people that wish to overclock.

Has anyone else had sucess with sapphire OC? or are the other versions actually better? Could I get higher OC with a different version of this card?

i have the same card and im thinking of ocing it just to 7970 levels? will i get similar performance to one?

thinking 1025 mhz core OC and 1400 memory OC with no change in voltage. doable with only 2 fans in my case?

I got to the levels stated without any extra/additional cooling, so you should be able to hit 1025/1400 easily.

It wont exactly give you the same performance as a 7970, though. It has more shaders than the 7950.

Great job Phantom. You should post a review of the card. Maybe a how to on overclocking Bulldozer (Piledriver?).

It actually can give you ALMOST the same performance as a 7950 its so close its silly, also i own a SAPHIRE 7950 DUAL X OC which i oc'ed to 1200 clock and the memory i kept at stock, i can bring the memory up to 1500 like you but i noticed no increase in fps for some reason and i decided just pushing the clock as far as possible and leavin the memory at stock to get more headroom would be best.

*CANT EDIT* i ment ALMOST SAME PERFORMANCE AS A 7970
