Hello, i've planned to upgrade for a Haswell i7 4770k system. but what i've been worried about is i want to keep my files backed up and restored for that new MSI-G45 LGA 1150 Motherboard. and i do not want to redownload and reinstall everything back up it's really a long way to start over and really annoying for me... i've already backed up my C Drive (which is the SDD files) in my Current HDD. will those files be restored in the new motherboard? if not can you give me a solution?
To be honest, Sandybridge is still really good by today's standards. It's actually competitive with Haswell. There's no immediate need to upgrade, and Broadwell will be released in the coming months. You should probably wait...
If you do want to upgrade, it is advisable to reinstall your operating system on C. Your other HDD shouldn't need to be reformatted. You've backed up files from C on the HDD, you could simply move them back after the reinstall.
you will experience no comprehensible upgrade over sandybridge. Enjoy your extra 1 fps.
ya from the socket stand point, Intel screwed everyone who went 4th gen expecting to be able to upgrade to 5th gen with just a CPU swap and a bios update like 2nd to 3rd gen
your profile says you have a 2700k @4.2ghz which is still a beast cpu so I would wait until you are unhappy with its performance. If you want more fps go with a new video card.
